IFS (Internal Family Systems)
There is much more to who you are than you realize.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is actually not family therapy at all, but therapy centered on your Self. It takes the view that everybody has a Self, which is the calm core of who we are. It's the version of ourself that is open, trusting, and secure.
The goal of IFS is to develop more of this Self, with the theory that more of your healthy Self brings more ability to manage your mental health and life. The difficulties that get in the way of this we begin to understand as "parts" of who you are.
Much of the work in IFS comes from working with these parts. It's a creative, exploratory, and self-led process, designed to help you better understand the history and context of the different aspects of yourself. An IFS therapist trusts that we can understand where your challenges came from, and how to resolve them at a deep level.
